About the book: David Fitzgerald's award-winning 2010 book Nailed: Ten Christian Myths That Show Jesus Never Existed At All pointed out the top ten fatal flaws of Christianity's origin story. Now, Jesus: Mything in Action presents the most compelling new findings in Jesus Myth theory and critically examines its controversial reception by biblical scholars, the extent and reliability of our sources for Jesus, and reveals the surprising history behind Jesus' evolution. In this volume: Mything in Action, vol. II (chapters 13 - 18) discusses the changing Jesus from even before the earliest Christians, to Paul, to the Book of Hebrews, to the Gospels and beyond: the construction (and deconstruction) of the Gospels; how Jesus is presented in the rest of the New Testament; and examines the historical sources for Jesus outside of the Bible.

Maybe you were born to Christian parents and raised as a Christian. Or maybe you are just a part of a Christian nation. You might have attended church regularly, or maybe just on special occasions. If asked, you say that you believe in God, but you really never thought about what that means exactly. You are a well-educated person who accepts the idea of Biblical miracles, but only the more "reasonable" ones. You have read some of the Bible, mostly just parts of the New Testament, but never committed to reading the Bible cover to cover. You are a good person who admires the many "Christian values" as demonstrated by Jesus Christ. But something does not feel right. * Science tells us that the universe is 13.7 billion years old, but the Bible tells us it's 6,000 years old. * Science tells us life is the result of emergent properties in combined molecules, and we have evolved from a very primitive life form, but the Bible says that God made us, as is, from dust, and blew life in our noses. * You see a world where little bunnies burn to death in forest fires, and wonder why an all-good and loving God would allow such a thing to happen. * You pray to God and you realize that sometimes your prayers are answered, and sometimes they aren't -- just as if you didn't pray at all. * You hear about other religions and wonder why your religion is right and every other religion on the planet is wrong. * You have a real problem with the idea of all your non-Jesus-believing friends and family spending eternity in Hell.âe¨ In fact, the more you look around, the more you see a world absent of this perfect image of a perfect God. As much as you want to avoid critical thinking and "just let go and have faith", you find that you cannot believe in something contrary to your logic and reason -- no matter how much you want to. This might lead to feelings of guilt, insincerity, and/or hypocrisy. Yet you just can't imagine living life without God, and you don't have to. When you start asking serious questions about God and religion, you begin to see through the stories of people living inside the stomachs of big fish, 900-year-old men, and bodies coming back to life after three days, and understand how man created God, and not the other way around. By daring to question "sacred" religion, challenging your childhood beliefs, and risking eternal damnation (okay, so there might be a minor side effect to reading this book), you will discover an appreciation for religion on a new level, as well as a renewed appreciation for the human race. Through a unique blend of science, philosophy, theology, and a touch of humor, you will see how you can trust your logic and reason, be true to yourself, and embrace God - not as a being, but as a concept - The Concept.

In this first of a comprehensive two-volume study of the Old and New Testaments, Dr. Robert M. Price builds a spacious and sturdy ark to carry Bible readers over the floods of mystery that have long perplexed them. Why are there multiple creation stories? Who are the -sons of god- in Genesis? What's really going on with those Isaiah passages that preachers love to read at Christmas? Putting a lifetime of biblical scholarship hard at work on perhaps his most momentous project yet, Dr. Price explains the mysteries without scorning them. The beloved old Bible is revealed to be indeed a Fable, but still a Holy one in its sprawling and fascinating way.

"A handbook for hunting and punishing witches to assist the Inquisition and Church in exterminating undesirables. CHRIST'S VENTRILOQUISTS is a work of investigative history. It documents and describes Christianity's creation-event, in the year 49 or 50, in Antioch (present-day Antakya, Turkey), 20 years after Jesus had been crucified in Jerusalem for sedition against Roman rule. On this occasion, Paul broke away from the Jewish sect that Jesus had begun, and he took with him the majority of this sect's members; he convinced these people that Jesus had been a god, and that the way to win eternal salvation in heaven is to worship him as such. Paul here explicitly introduced, for the first time anywhere, the duality of the previously unitary Jewish God, a duality consisting of the Father and the Son; and he implicitly introduced also the third element of the Trinity, the Holy Ghost. This work also explains and documents the tortuous 14-year-long conflict Paul had had with this sect's leader, Jesus's brother James, a conflict which caused Paul, in about the year 50, to perpetrate his coup d'état against James, and to start his own new religion: Christianity. Then, this historical probe documents that the four canonical Gospel accounts of the words and actions of "Jesus" were written decades after Jesus, by followers of Paul, not by followers of Jesus; and that these writings placed into the mouth of "Jesus" the agenda of Paul. Paul thus effectively became, via his followers, Christ's ventriloquist. A work such as this can be documented and produced only now, after the development (during the past 70 years) of modern legal/forensic methodology. Previously, the only available methods, which scholars have used, simply assumed the honesty-of-intent of all classical documents, especially of canonical religious ones, such as Paul's epistles, and the Four Gospels. Only now is it finally possible to penetrate deeper than that, to reach the writer's intent, and not merely his assertions, and to identify when this intent is to deceive instead of to inform. Whereas scholars have been able to discuss only the truth or falsity of particular canonical statements, it is now possible to discuss also the honesty or deceptiveness of individual statements. This opens up an unprecedented new research tool for historians, and CHRIST'S VENTRILOQUISTS is the first work to use these new methods to reconstruct, on this legal/forensic basis, not just how crimes took place, but how and why major historical events (criminal or not), such as the start of Christianity, actually occurred. The author explains: "What I am doing in this work is to reconstruct from the New Testament the crucial events that produced it, without assuming whether what the NT says in any given passage is necessarily true or even honest. Instead of treating the NT as a work that 'reports history,' the NT is treated as a work whose history is itself being investigated and reported. Its origin goes back to this coup d'état that Paul perpetrated in Antioch in the year 49 or 50 against Jesus's brother James in Jerusalem, whom Jesus in Jerusalem had appointed in the year 30 as his successor to lead the Jewish sect that Jesus had started. The Gospel accounts of 'Jesus' reflected Paul's coup d'état - not actually Jesus, who would be appalled at the Christian concept of 'Christ.' That concept was radically different from the Jewish concept of the messiah, and Paul knew this when he created it."

This book is about the consequences of religion more than whether Christ rose from the dead (Krishna, Mithras, Osiris, Attis of Phrygia, Dionysus, all of whom besides being born on December 25th from a virgin mother, died and were resurrected, except for Mithras - who ascended directly without dying ) or whether the text of the verses of the Qur'an correspond exactly to those revealed to Muhammad directly as the words of God, delivered to Muhammad through the angel Gabriel.. It is more focused on how religious scriptures and writings have been misused to harm, torture or kill others who don't believe, or used for justification to do what most rational persons would consider evil. How is this for religious intolerance? Rabbi Yaacov Perrin said, "One million Arabs are not worth a Jewish fingernail." Muhammad married a 6 year old girl. Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism had 24 wives, one was 14 years old. Smith was convicted of fraud (of being an "imposter"- a con man), in a court of law.. Then he wrote "The Book of Mormon..." The story of Moses is patterned after the story of Sargon the Great. Moses did not exist. Christianity was invented for political purposes by the Roman Emperor Constantine ("The Great") in 325 A.D. based on the myth of Mithra (Persian savior god born on December 25th).. Do a web search on: "How Christianity was Invented: The Truth ," without the quotes. Constantine's friend, Eusebius (Bishop of Caesarea in Palestine) has been described as "the first thoroughly dishonest historian of antiquity." He is also described as "The Father of Church History."Destruction of previous conflicting documents and edifices followed, including the destruction of the Great Library of Alexandria. This book is an attempt to create awareness of the true origins and the fraudulent and forged self-serving writings of the main religions. Their purpose is to control and mislead us to follow them, without question, essentially putting us in a prison in our own minds. Like the elephant with the rope around one foot, it is easy for us to break free, but we don't know it. This book is an attempt to encourage us to follow an alternative, a humanitarian secular ethical road moving beyond all religion. The orgins of the main religions are shown to be copycats of previous myths, with outrageous fraud and forgeries exposed. Covers all four major religions.

The book you hold in your hand contains detailed accounts of every major theological discovery made by the human race in the last four thousand years, and manages to do all of that before the first word. Because there are no 'theological discoveries'. Theology, unique among academic disciplines, has failed to make the faintest trace of progress in the entirety of its existence. And if you doubt that, go ask a theologist what god is.The entire discipline is somehow devoted to studying a concept that remains undefined and unevidenced. And despite its perfect rate of failure, for many people the proclamations of religion outweigh the proclamations of science. This cultural preference for wishful thinking over sound methodology has consequences ranging from amusing to dire, and as our world grows ever more dependant on technology, the consequences of scientific ignorance (willful or otherwise) grow ever more dangerous. As the host of The Scathing Atheist, one of the world's most popular atheist podcasts, Noah Lugeons channels the frustration of atheists through a combination of wit, rage, and vulgarity in his weekly diatribes. From the trivial frustration to the critical threats, Noah tackles every aspect of religion with the same acerbic humor; because atheists need catharsis, and the future needs atheists. The entire discipline is somehow devoted to studying a concept that remains undefined and unevidenced. In The Book, Alan Watts provides us with a much-needed answer to the problem of personal identity, distilling and adapting the Hindu philosophy of Vedanta. At the root of human conflict is our fundamental misunderstanding of who we are. The illusion that we are isolated beings, unconnected to the rest of the universe, has led us to view the “outside” world with hostility, and has fueled our misuse of technology and our violent and hostile subjugation of the natural world. To help us understand that the self is in fact the root and ground of the universe, Watts has crafted a revelatory primer on what it means to be human—and a mind-opening manual of initiation into the central mystery of existence.

Vintage Feminism: classic feminist texts in short form WITH AN INTRODUCTION BY NATALIE HAYNES When this book was first published in 1949 it was to outrage and scandal. Never before had the case for female liberty been so forcefully and successfully argued. De Beauvoir’s belief that ‘One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman’ switched on light bulbs in the heads of a generation of women and began a fight for greater equality and economic independence. These pages contain the key passages of the book that changed perceptions of women forever.

The story of religion in twenty-first-century America has been defined, in large part, by the stories of zealous pastors moving beyond their faith to embrace a life of reason. And with each passing year, we re hearing such stories at an increasing rate. But too often and too quickly ardent believers dismiss such accounts as aberrations. Meanwhile atheists and other skeptics shake their heads in a confusion that struggles to understand what took such individuals so long to make the exit. The questions posed by one side inevitably mirror those asked by the other. . What factors lead believers to trust God the way they do? . And what factors lead atheists to dismiss such ideas so easily? . What does real faith look like and how do you know it when you have it? . And what allows anyone to be so sure their beliefs are based in reality? . What would it take for believers to stop believing in God? . And what would it take for nonbelievers to begin? Drawing on the author s own story as a former evangelical pastor powerless to stop his turn to atheism, The Rise and Fall of Faith touches on these and other questions. While the aim of the book is to initiate a much-needed conversation between Christians and atheists, it will be up to each of us to carry the discussion forwardin the evaluation of our own inner thoughts, in the assumptions we make about the other side, and in how we work together in the pursuit of understanding and common ground as we navigate the world's quickly changing religious landscape."

Fighting God is a firebrand manifesto from one of the most recognizable faces of atheism. In his book, Silverman-a walking, talking atheist billboard known for his appearances on Fox News-discusses the effectiveness, ethics and impact of the in-your-face-atheist who refuses to be silent. Silverman argues that religion is more than just wrong: it is malevolent and does not deserve our respect. It is our duty to be outspoken and do what we can to bring religion down. Examining the mentality, methods and issues facing the firebrand atheist, Silverman presents an overwhelming argument for firebrand atheism and reveals: - All religion is cafeteria religion and almost all agnostics are atheists. - American society grants religion a privileged status, despite the intentions of the Founding Fathers. - Christian politicians have adversely (and un-Constitutionally) affected our society with regard to science, health, women's rights, and gay rights. - The notion of "atheist Jews" is a lie forced on us by religion. - It is not "Islamophobia" to observe dangerous teachings and disproportionate violence in Islam. - Atheists are slowly but surely winning the battle. Fighting God is a provocative, unapologetic book that takes religion to task and will give inspiration to non-believers and serve as the ultimate answer to apologists.
